My Story
I am an independent children's writer and illustrator located in Cardiff, Wales. My journey began sixteen years ago when I started writing stories for my two young daughters. After turning 60, I took up drawing to illustrate my own children's books. I am continually striving to grow and improve.
At 50, I trained to become a teacher, becoming a secondary school teacher specialising in Mathematics and Information Communications Technology (ICT). Prior to that, I worked in IT with IBM and Fujitsu, and in my 20s, I trained as a publican and worked as a carvery chef.
In my first children's story, "Curly Octopus and the Treasure Chest," I introduced the loveable character Curly Octopus, who goes on an adventure with his sea friends: Blue Starfish, Claude Crab, and Sandy Seahorse. Curly bravely rescues his friends in their time of need, and they promise to help him whenever he requires help. This story is one of ten that I wrote for my daughters and are now being published.
In another children's book titled "You Can't Eat Me," a hungry snake searches for a little monkey to eat. Will his jungle friends betray him to the starving snake? This story is aimed at children aged 2 - 5 years.
In "John, the Spaceboy: Mission to the Moon," John has a vivid imagination that surpasses the universe. Each night before bed, he dreams of being Spaceboy, and one night, his imagination takes flight, transporting him to the moon where he meets a friendly alien and a 'Mind Catcher' living on the far side. Will the 'Mind Catcher' steal away John's imagination?
